Sidney William Arseneault

The passing of Sidney William Arseneault of Fredericton, NB, husband of the late Barbara (Gwilliam) Arseneault, occurred on Friday, March 5, 2010 at the Veteran’s Health Unit. Born on June 17, 1921 in McAdam, NB, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Eleanor Arseneault. He was a member of the St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church. Sidney was a veteran of WWII, he served in the Air Force for 30 years and then worked for the Province of NB-Department of Transportation for 17 years, retiring in 1989. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4. Sidney played badminton at the Fredericton Field House until he was 75 years young.

Sidney is survived by his daughters, Pauline Taylor (Dennis) of Edmonton, AB, Kim Hepditch (Pat Power) of Fredericton, NB and Kathy Hossack (Bill McNaughton) of New Maryland, NB; son, Michael S. Arseneault of Portland, Oregon; grandchildren, Justin Hepditch (Michelle), Josh Hepditch, Ashlee Hossack and Lacy McNaughton; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his sister, Joan and brother, Wendall.

Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Monday, March 8, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4 are asked to assemble at the funeral home on Monday at 7 pm for a Legion Tribute Service. A Funeral Service will take place at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, Main Street on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at 2 pm with Canon Bill MacMullin officiating. Interment will take place in St. John the Evangelist Anglican Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated by the family.
