John Patrick Sears

The passing of John Patrick Sears of Fredericton, NB, life partner of Geraldine McCurdy, occurred on Thursday, March 4, 2010 at York Manor Nursing Home. Born on January 17, 1936 in Fredericton, NB, he was the son of the late Joseph and Claire (Kelly) Sears. He was a civil engineer with the Province of NB-Department of Highways. John was a President and Deputy Governor and lifetime member of the Kinsmen Club, CRCD, New Brunswick Golf Association, MS Society, member of the NB Sports Hall of Fame, Fredericton Wall of Fame and Willingdon Cup Team.

John is survived by his daughter, Anitra (Mike) Gamble of Fredericton, NB; sons, Joseph (Laura) of Saint John, NB and Patrick (Darlene) of Tide Head, NB; grandchildren, Alyssa and Anissa Gamble, Claire and Alison Sears, Emily and Joshua Sears; sisters, Flora Kennedy and Barbara Yerxa. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Agnes and Mary.

Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Friday, March 5, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Anthony’s Church on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 11 am with Father Monte Peters as celebrant. Interment will take place at St. Anthony’s Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrance made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society would be appreciated by the family.
